Detroit Metropolitan Youth Ensembles (DMYE)

DMYE is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a musical experience to youth in Detroit and the surrounding communities.

 

 

Mission Statement

The Detroit Metropolitan Youth Ensembles mission is to provide a vehicle whereby youths, ages 8 to 12, can develop musicianship and express their talents and skills, from a vocational perspective, through rehearsal, training, and performance opportunities while promoting high self-esteem, self-discipline, perseverance, self-motivation, concentration, creativity, higher reasoning skills, high academic achievement, and a positive self-image.

 


The Detroit Metropolitan Youth Ensembles is a performance entity designed to develop and enhance the gifts of those who exhibit a talent for the musical arts. The DMYE will provide instruction, training and performance opportunities thorough the following mediums: The Detroit Boy's Choir, Girls Choir, Concert Choir, Handbell Choir and Recorder Ensemble. Additionally, instruction in theory, ear training, sight singing, and sight-reading will be integrated into the rehearsal sessions to enhance learning and strengthen understanding of the basic fundamentals of music. Practicums and vocational experience will be given at regular intervals via Master Classes, Lecture Series, and Concert Series by experienced performing professional musicians of local, national and/or international celebrity.
